Where archaeological issues in Turkey are concerned, there’s a lot that journalists can do to help raise social involvement, knowledge, and awareness.
Turkey is rich in archaeological assets and the country’s media can play an influential role not only in preventing commonly-made mistakes and combatting illegal digging but also in helping people better understand ancient civilizations and identify with their local cultural heritage.
SARAT came together with journalists who are concerned with such matters through the ‘Archaeology Reporting Workshops for Journalists’ conducted in five region. Participants in these workshops had been thinking hard about issues ranging from increasing public information about archaeology in Turkey to improving the quality of archaeology journalism.
